A golden treasure from Space...and The Atlas of Micrometeorites (page 170).
Micrometeorite [NMM 2074] is a small (~0.2 millimeters) interesting cryptocrystalline (CC) type micrometeorite with aerodynamic form. The color is golden and translucent, and it has beautiful crystalline “speed lines”. In the front there is a large nickel-iron mound and a secondary smaller nickel-enriched bead at the side, due to spin during atmospheric entry. The secondary nickel bead has triggered its own crystal domain. This stone is a jewel in any collection. The stone was found 2019 0508 at Skedsmo (Grove Knudsen), Viken, Norway. It is from the Atlas of Micrometeorites, page 170.
NMM 2074 - Skedsmokorset
Top quality micrometeorite mounted on a signed microslide (cardboard/aluminum/glass). The stone is from Jon Larsen’s collection and is in pristine condition (no sign of weathering, low terrestrial age), complete and oriented.
The stone is a part of the collection found during the fifth season of micrometeorite findings/verification in populated areas (2019). The catalog number refers to the NMM archive (the main index of Norwegian Micro Meteorites, Jon Larsen’s urban Stardust Collection), and the stone was found and curated by Jon Larsen.
VERIFICATION: The MM has been confirmed extraterrestrial by SEM/EDS analysis and visual identification by Jon Larsen, and is a verified micrometeorite, hereby confirmed in writing. The stone is delivered with a signed Certificate of Authenticity incl. classification, a signed label, plus one digital color photo. Note the image credit for the color photo: © Jan Braly Kihle/Jon Larsen, Project Stardust. Upon delivery, before opening the glass, please check under the microscope if the stone has loosened from the center of the tape inside the microslide during transportation. If dislocated, it can easily be moved with a damp toothpick or pointed wooden stick.
