A LIFE IN PICTURES is a visual presentation of Jon Larsen, his paintings, drawings, aquarelles, and photos. The large format coffee table book collects more than 350 images of Larsen’s art, as well as photos from his life and career, including many previously unpublished. We follow Larsen on his unexpected journey from the start as a rock collecting surrealist artist and street musician in the 1970s, via years on the road and in the recording studios with legendary jazz musicians, until his present-day occupation as internationally acclaimed scientific researcher on cosmic dust particles. Text in English.

  • Jon Larsen is known throughout the world for his discovery of urban stardust, and his hi-res stardust photos are shown in elegant art galleries in New York and Berlin. But he started his career as a visual artist with annual solo exhibitions of paintings as early as 1976 and onwards for twenty years. A LIFE IN PICTURES is put together as a fantastic retrospective exhibition of Jon Larsen’s paintings, drawings, aquarelles, and photos.

Jon Larsen started painting, playing guitar, and collecting rocks from an early age. In this autopictography he gathers the work that has mattered most to him over the years and weaves the story of his life through these pictures. A beautifully and copiously illustrated book, designed by himself, this is life as seen by a creative underground polymath.

A common thread runs through Jon Larsen's art from his debut in the 1970s until today's work with images of micrometeorites. In the early years his oil paintings were inspired by geology, and at the inauguration of the exhibition of large stardust images in the fashionable Agora Gallery in Manhattan (2017), NASA's Mike Zolensky said that "Larsen has found a new door onto the origins of the Solar System". In A LIFE IN PICTURES all these fantastic images are presented chronologically, a journey into the unknown.

A LIFE IN PICTURES is 168 pages, art print/hard cover/luxury binding in large format. Limited edition: 500 books numbered and signed by the artist.
